Each of his acts was a completely different set of tricks and interactions, in different sequences. teaching a dog to do any single one of those would have been impressive - doing so many different and interesting skits with the dog was truly impressive.

I wish this show had been around when Skidboot was still alive. He was the only dog I've seen who was as smart as Hurricane. Skidboot made appearances on Oprah and late night shows like Letterman. He was NOT a "stupid pet trick" however! I met Skidboot and his owner many years ago, and that's why I've had two Australian cattle dogs (Queensland Heeler) since then. Heelers are crazy smart like border collies. Currently I have a beautiful border collie who is 12 years old and my best buddy in the whole world! I don't know squat about dog training, but he learns so fast I feel like he's training me!

Skidboot was a legend (RIP) but this dog is crazy smart. I assume that Hurricane is a border collie? I have a 12 year old border collie who still gets that intense look when we do tricks for treats, but these days he sleeps a lot. The hardest thing I taught him was to wink. That's hard for dogs because they can't see their own eye winking. He's so smart I think he understands most of what I say.

@@jules6735 I can confirm! I have a 12 year old border collie who is my ranch foreman, best friend, therapist, and entertainer. I have a short video of him of the day he found two lost newborn goats after mama goat forgot where she left them after giving birth! I looked for over an hour until I was in tears, when I saw Joey looking up at me quizzically, so I said, "Hey Joe, Go find the babies!" He took off, and minutes later he gave out a happy loud bark! Whooza good boi?! Until he found them, we hadn't seen the babies, we just knew mama had given birth... somewhere on our 20 acre property. However, Joey understood me perfectly even though he had not seen those babies yet either. He's very serious about protecting the goats, especially the babies that he loves to cuddle.

Many dogs are this smart. Begin early & put in 5-6 hrs a day. Love them, spend time w/ them & use play & praise as incentive not treats. Like u would a child.

i did not expect them to win but not surprise. thats why I love AGT. anyone with any talent can win. If its a talent and its great. you have a chance. I have never so desperately wanted an animal to win this show like I am with these guys right now. I mean, what's not to love about this 4-legged performer and their human! Elegant. Funny. Smart. Considerate. Passionate. Sweet. Seamless. I say, if every time someone calls another person a 'dog' and this is what they mean, I so badly want to be a dog. This dog. The singers are incredible. Gymnasts are wow. All the finalists are wow, but this is the kind of act that can outshine the Las Vegas bright lights. Good luck to them!

What makes this dog and act so different than any other dog act is it seems the trainer doesn't really have to prompt Hurricane or show her where to go or what to do. She literally seems like she has the whole routine memorized. Like Simon said, it seems like the dog is actually acting...not just following commands. Pretty amazing. I did not expect them to win, but I am not surprised.
