@@raymorris104 You're right. I was pissed when Billy Gilman didn't win The Voice a few years ago but I thought about the same thing then. It's better not to win, but come in 2nd. Most of them are doing great but so far Kelly and Carrie are the crown jewels for Idol. My favorite will always be David Cook, and for The Voice, I adore Girl Named Tom. They don't need any help, they have their own studio and if they want, all 3 can return to college to become doctors as they were doing when their dad became ill with cancer. He passed away in 2017 after all 3 kids had moved back home for family time while they still had him.

@@Melly484 Ray is right. When you win, you sign a contract which is something like being sentenced to prison for a year because what you're doing is not what YOU necessarily want to do. I do have to disagree about the dancers. I am NEVER impressed by dancers or pet acts, but when that group danced the 2nd time, I paid attention, I was really impressed by their precision.

That's what I was thinking too. I was a little disappointed with the judges reaction. They called the song just "really good". That song was PERFECT, and he performed it PERFECTLY. He's already there. He's a professional just waiting for the right opportunity to come along. I don't think anyone could suggest one thing he could have done better. Flawless!

Generally, they give Golden Buzzer to a complete surprise or a great back story. In fact, Drake doesn't need that. This performance alone will change his life. Country music stations are going to get flooded with calls. The song will fly up the charts. He could sign with a bigger label. (With BBR now) And he's a headliner in two weeks. He's been kicking around for years and starred as Elvis in "Sun Records" on CMT in 2017. But this is his breakout song.

Nashville has thousands of talented singers who are trying to make it; Maybe this will give him the break he needs to get it.

A young man travels to Nashville, it was around 1985. He pitched a couple of songs to a record label and they turned him not once, but three times. This young man traveled back home to Oklahoma where he was from. After spending time at home he traveled back to Nashville and was heard at the bluebird Café one night by the same record label executives that turned him down. They immediately wanted him to come back in, and he did the song he was singing when he was discovered was “the Dance”, which is a song that he didn’t even write. They signed the young man to a short term deal, however he immediately took off, the young man was Garth Brooks and the rest is history.

@@bernardochavis4230 Drake & the Band already have a record deal. The point of auditioning is getting your name out there and AGT provides that platform. The judges have various reasons for not giving someone the Golden Buzzer. Like Simon was going to give the 12 year old and her poodles the Golden buzzer & changed his mind. I'm not sure if he told her or if someone overheard him saying that he was going to give it to her but changed his mind.

It's all about exposure if you're good in this business. No matter how good you are, if no one knows it, it goes nowhere. But that was his point for being on the show. At least he was honest about it. And yes, there have at times been some good ones on AGT, but I actually had gotten so bored with it I quit watching about 2 years ago. Just happened across this on youtube or would not have seen it this time. And there was a little girl on this particular show with him that blew the doors off. So he's going to have some competition. But because of the exposure, if you're good, you can win without winning. I would even argue you might be better off not winning and not be controlled by them afterwards. Very few go on to be stars that win these shows tho some do, because the management does not tailor themselves to the winner since they already have so many artists that are already there so to speak. Col Parker only managed one act once he found Elvis. But Elvis was all he needed to make a fortune. Buy yes, he's been around the block a time or two already. That's why he's so polished. By the way, He played Elvis in the Sun Records show that was on one of the cable channels a couple of years ago. But cable shows don't offer near the exposure AGT does. But to his credit he doesn't try to be Elvis or sound like him. That would not work because we already had the real thing. We don't need another one and he's smart enough to know that. But yes, I am very impressed with his whole package from what I see so far not to mention his band is good. Will he win? Who knows, but the world will know him before this is over. Something else you learn in this business, if you write songs you are WAY ahead of the game. And he writes songs. It takes a lot of nerve to audition with an original. Not only did he do that, he just blew most people over with it. I'm sure some won't like him, but a lot more will. That "ain't" easy to do!
